Opportunity Name:
Volunteer GED Teachers for Transitional Programs

Description:

The Salvation Army is looking for current and former educators who would like to volunteer their time to helping some of our clients in our rehabilitation programs with preparing for their General Education Development Certification before they transition out of the program. We are looking to build a tight network of 5-20 educators which will hopefully allow us to rotate times/shifts in the long-term.

Volunteers who chose to help lead the class will have around 10-15 clients at a time for two hours a day preferably from 6:00pm-8:00pm during the weekdays with weekends as an opportunity too. This opportunity is available no more than 1-2 times a week.

The Salvation Army provides our clients with practice exams and other materials. Volunteers will help clients understand what it takes to pass the actual exam.

These include but are not limited to:

  • Lesson Planning
  • Teaching
  • Providing Feedback
  • Offering additional assistance

If you are interested in participating in this new opportunity. Please reach out to Brandon Lopez at brandon.lopez@uss.salvationarmy.org and more information will be shared including requirements, touring the facility, meeting our counselors/coordinators, and any other questions that you may have.
