ESL : Instructors & Teaching Assistants Needed (Virtual)

Project Description:

Want to help motivated adults learn a new language and reach their goals?

Help us by becoming a volunteer English as a Second Language lead teacher or teaching assistant!

How will volunteers help?

ESL Lead Teachers will follow our easy-to-read and fully built curriculum to teach adult learners through activities and planned lessons. Teacher Assistants will help with technical issues and help during lessons.

Teachers can choose to work with one of our six student groups: Introduction, ESL Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, Level 4 and a Master Class.

Do I need to know Spanish?

You DO NOT need to know Spanish to volunteer in ESL!

What books/curriculum are used in the program?

We will use Ventures – Cambridge for our Intro to Level 4 classes. For our Master Class we will have no book, we will work off a fully built curriculum created by our Adult Education Coordinators.

Will classes be in-person or online?

All our classes will be taught virtually via Zoom for Fall 2021.

What is the program's schedule?

Our semester begins on August 24th and ends December 9th.

Intro – Level 4 (Ventures) Classes are on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in the morning and evening.

  • AM Group: 9:30AM - 11:30AM
  • PM Group: 6:30PM - 8:30PM

Our Master Class is on Tuesday and Thursday in the morning and evening.

  • AM Group: 9:30AM - 11:30AM
  • PM Group: 6:30PM - 8:30PM

How many days can I volunteer?

You are more than welcome to volunteer as many days as possible in the morning or evening but we require a minimum of one day/shift (morning or evening) per week.

We also ask for a volunteer commitment of an entire semester (15 weeks for this program).

If you only volunteer once a week, you will co-teach and work as a team with other volunteer teacher!

Do I need prior experience teaching adults or ESL?

No, our team will review the curriculum with you, train you on teaching skills and provide you with great resources! We will also ensure you have support throughout the semester!
