Project Description:

Position Summary:

Along with City Park Interpreters, Information Specialists will be responsible for running and operating the Information Desk inside the Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center. Main duties will include greeting visitors, fielding questions, orientating visitors to the Park, its natural and cultural resources, the rules and regulations, available programs, and distributing park maps while ensuring a high quality experience.

Ongoing training will be available throughout the year along with educational resources being available to expand their knowledge base.   Successful volunteers tend to be outgoing, approachable, and possess excellent customer service skills.

 

Schedule:

Successful applicants must commit to one, four hour shift a week for at least one summer season with priority given to those willing to commit year-round. A Summer Season is from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Two hour shifts are available during the summer season only in during the evenings.

Shifts are 9:00 am – 1:00 pm, 1:00 – 5:00 pm, and 5:00 – 7:00 pm.

 

Age Requirement:

18 and older (special consideration possible for younger volunteers).

 

Additional Information:

All volunteers are required to register online as a City of Colorado Springs Volunteer which requires submitting to a background check. Volunteers also enjoy a free one-year membership to Friends of Garden of the Gods (FOGG) and a 25% discount on food and merchandise inside the Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center. Volunteers must also acquire their own volunteer shirt ($15.00) with free shirts available for those in need.
