Service Project Details

Welcome to El Buen! You are one step closer in helping us address food insecurities in Central Texas! We need your help more than ever to serve our community in ensuring families gain access to healthy food and community resources. Please read the following volunteer roles available and their descriptions.

*This is an in-person program and requires all volunteers and staff to be fully vaccinated to participate.*

Our Food Pantry operates Monday-Thursday in the mornings. We prep on Mon. & Wed. and have our public drive through food distribution on Tues. & Thurs. Below are the descriptions and schedules for each day of the week.

Volunteer Roles Available

Mondays - 8:00AM-9:00AM (1 hour) – Prep Day

Help us unload several hundred pounds of food from the Central Texas Food Bank truck, weigh, and document order. (Must be able to lift heavy items)

Mondays - 9:30AM-11:30AM (2 hours) – Prep Day

Help us organize and restock food dentations and prep dry good bags for our next drive through food pantry day.

Tuesdays - 7:45AM-10:00AM (2 hours and 15 minutes) – Distribution Day

Help us distribute food pantry bags to up to 180 families on this day. We need volunteers to make bags of fresh produce and run bags to the distribution area. One volunteer will help our staff load bags into vehicle trunks or truck beds.

Wednesdays 9:00AM-11:00AM (2 hours) – Prep Day

Help us organize and restock food dentations and prep dry good bags for our next drive through food pantry day.

Thursdays - 7:45AM-10:00AM (2 hours and 15 minutes) – Distribution Day

Volunteering:

You are more than welcome to volunteer as many days as possible during the week, but we require a minimum of one day per week.

We also ask for a volunteer commitment of an entire semester (Spring, Summer, Fall). Please let us know your commitment time frame.

By signing up, you are agreeing that you have reviewed the CDC's recommendations on how to protect yourself and are committed to arriving at El Buen on time for your shifts. If you need to cancel, please make sure you do it in a timely manner since we are a small team. Every person on our team counts!
