Description:

Made up of 743 acres of land, Riverbend Park contains 10 miles hiking/biking trails, 6 miles of equestrian trails and 5 miles of canoeing/kayaking trails. The Loxahatchee River Battlefield, the "Wild and Scenic” Loxahatchee River, a Cracker Farmstead and Seminole chikees are all found in the park.

 

Volunteers are needed for help with special events and environmental and historical program presentations for schools, private groups, and the general public.  Help is also needed for park caretaking to keep the park clean and safe. Volunteer positions available include:

  • GARDEN ASSISTANT Assists with gardening, watering plants, weeding, planting, and general maintenance of the butterfly garden and/or Farmstead vegetable garden area.
  • PARK AMBASSADOR Welcomes park visitors, provides customer service answering questions about the park, programs, directions, current happenings, and provides park and trail monitoring.
  • MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT Picks up trash and debris, trims branches, and performs general maintenance around the building and/or on the trails.
  • PROGRAM ASSISTANT Assists the Naturalists with specific educational programs which can include: leading guided tours on the trails, assisting with a school field trip, being a ride leader for the full moon bike ride program, assisting with a fishing program, and more!
  • SPECIAL EVENTS Assists with special events such as Farmstead Day and the Loxahatchee River Battlefield Reenactment.

 

Here are some general requirements for volunteering:

  • Be at least 15 years old
  • Commit for a minimum of six months
  • Complete the application process

 

 

**This site doesn't provide court ordered volunteer hours.
