GOG Communication Liaison 2019


Project Description:

Position Summary:

Volunteers will assist with fielding incoming phone calls to the Visitor and Nature Center.  Transferring calls to the appropriate organization or individual while also answering basic questions.  Questions can vary widely but typically include requests for directions, operating hours, and basic Park facts.


Ongoing training will be available throughout the year along with educational resources being available to expand their knowledge base.  Annual Spring Training is mandatory for all new volunteers.    Successful volunteers tend to be outgoing, approachable, and possess excellent customer service skills.



Successful applicants must commit to one, four hour shift a week for at least one summer season with priority given to those willing to commit year-round.  A Summer Season is from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.  Two hour shifts are available in the evenings during the summer.


Shifts are flexible but are typically scheduled:  9:00 am – 1:00 pm, 1:00 – 5:00 pm, and 5:00 – 7:00 pm.


Age Requirement:  18 and older (special consideration possible for younger volunteers).



All volunteers are required to register online as a City of Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services Volunteer which requires submitting to a background check.  Volunteers also enjoy a free one-year membership to Friends of Garden of the Gods (FOGG) and a 25% discount on food and merchandise inside the Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center.  Volunteers must adhere to our dress code which includes a volunteer polo shirt.  While free shirts are available, we ask volunteers to purchase their own ($15.00-$18.00).
