Description:

As a Sensory Room Volunteer, you will play a crucial role in supporting individuals who benefit from sensory stimulation in a dedicated sensory room environment. This position requires compassion, patience, and a genuine interest in enhancing the well-being of individuals with sensory processing challenges. The sensory room is designed to provide a therapeutic and calming space for individuals with sensory sensitivities, autism, or other related conditions.

 

Duties -


  • Assist in Room Setup: Set up and prepare the sensory room with appropriate equipment and materials.
  • Engage Participants: Greet individuals and their caregivers upon entering the sensory room. Encourage individuals to explore and engage with various sensory stimuli. Guide how to use sensory equipment and tools appropriately.
  • Assist with Sensory Activities: Facilitate sensory activities based on the preferences and needs of the participants.
  • Communicate with Caregivers: Communicate effectively with caregivers to understand individual needs and preferences.
  • Provide feedback on participants' experiences in the sensory room.

Times and Dates will vary from year to year but will include a Thursday - Saturday commitment once in mid-May and again in early November. Both events take place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World. Dates for 2024 are as follows: 

  • Summer Games: May 16-18th  
  • Fall Classic: November  7-9th
