Opportunity Name:
Adopt-A-Ramp Program

Description:

This volunteer opportunity is a great fit for individuals, families, and organized youth, outdoors, and employee work groups.  Providing a vital link between Hoosiers and our state’s waters, the public access sites require occasional clean up and attention. All Hoosiers can help with maintaining sites through the Adopt-A-Ramp program. You will be connected to an Adopt-A-Ramp DNR contact upon registering who will assist you throughout your volunteerism.

Those volunteering to Adopt-A-Ramp will be asked to perform maintenance for one year.

Adopters are asked to please:

  • Maintain your site for one year.
  • Sign a volunteer service agreement and follow DNR safety and volunteer policies included in your welcome letter.
  • Visit the site at least three times per year with visits spread between spring, summer, and fall.
  • Collect trash around your ramp and report maintenance issues (fallen trees, large trash items, safety concerns) that need addressed by DNR staff to your Adopt-A-Ramp contact.
  • Contact DNR staff if you are interested in mowing or have ideas for additional types of maintenance to your site.
  • Complete a volunteer hours log for those months when volunteering is performed and send (via email or mail) back to DNR staff. This helps us track work being done on public access sites AND allows us to receive additional funding that goes directly back into the program!

On behalf of DNR, and all Hoosiers, we thank you for your support of our public waterways!
