WHAT IS A CORE VOLUNTEER:
CORE Volunteers are Committed to Ongoing Regular Engagement! Essentially, they are an extension of our staff!

 

VOLUNTEER POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Build Site Ambassador serves as a vital link between volunteers on site at Bluestem Prairie and Habitat for Humanity of Omaha Volunteer Services. This volunteer role involves providing a warm welcome, offering support, and ensuring a positive and engaging volunteer experience. The Build Site Ambassador will be stationed at our volunteer center, playing a crucial part in fostering a sense of community and accomplishment among volunteers.

 

This volunteer position has very busy times and very slow times. There may be times of the day where you are up on your feet walking around the parking lot directing volunteers, then not long later you are reading a book and taking it easy in the climate controlled volunteer center.

 

TASKS

• Volunteer Check-in: Greet and assist volunteers upon their arrival at the Bluestem Prairie volunteer center. Ensure a smooth check-in process, providing them with necessary information and materials.

• Distribution of Materials: Hand out t-shirts, safety gear, and any required equipment to volunteers, ensuring they are well-prepared for their tasks.
• Project Knowledge: Educate volunteers about the mission and goals of Habitat for Humanity of Omaha and provide information about the specific Bluestem Prairie housing development project.
  Photography: Capture photographs of volunteers throughout their experience, highlighting their contributions and the progress of the project.
• Set Up and Hospitality: Arrange picnic tables for lunches and breaks, creating a comfortable and inviting space. Distribute snacks and refreshments to volunteers as needed.
  
• Engagement and Communication: Interact with volunteers, answer their questions, and address any concerns. Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages teamwork and collaboration.
• Safety Awareness: Assist in promoting and maintaining a safe working environment by reminding volunteers to follow safety protocols and guidelines.
• Assist Volunteer Services: Collaborate with the Volunteer Services team to ensure a seamless volunteer operation. Provide input on ways to enhance the volunteer experience and suggest improvements to the process.
  

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Friendly, approachable, and enthusiastic attitude
• Knowledge of Habitat for Humanity's mission and principles (training will be provided).
• Basic photography skills (training will be provided).
• Comfortable working outdoors and in varying weather conditions.

Any day: Tuesday - Saturday

 

AVAILABLE TIME FRAME(S)

Tuesday - Saturday from 7:30AM-9:30AM

 

TIME COMMITMENT:
At least two shifts per month
