VOLUNTEER POSITION OVERVIEW

We on the lookout for passionate and committed individuals to fill the role of Home Dedication Coordinators within our CORE Volunteer team. This role is crucial in orchestrating the emotional and celebratory home dedication events that symbolize the realization of our homeowners' dreams. As a coordinator, you will be an integral part of a dedicated team responsible for meticulously planning and executing these events, focusing on everything from arranging the necessary equipment and materials to developing engaging and heartfelt agendas that capture the essence of Habitat for Humanity's mission and the personal achievements of each homeowner. Don’t worry, we’ll train you!

In this volunteer role, you will have the unique opportunity to work closely with families and various departments within Habitat for Humanity of Omaha, ensuring a cohesive and celebratory approach to each dedication ceremony. Your responsibilities will include communicating with homeowners to understand their preferences and desires for their special day, coordinating with staff and volunteers to fill needed roles in the event's agenda, and being present at the dedications to oversee the smooth execution of each ceremony. This position does not require securing venues, as dedications are typically held at the homeowners’ new home allowing you to focus on the personal, celebratory aspects of the event.

 

TASKS

  • Event Planning: Organize the logistical aspects of home dedication ceremonies, including arranging tables, chairs, and decorations to create a welcoming and celebratory environment for each event.
  • Agenda Development: Craft the event's agenda, ensuring it aligns with Habitat's mission and values, incorporates homeowner preferences, and includes key moments such as speeches, key ceremonies, and acknowledgements Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for homeowners undergoing dedication ceremonies. Discuss their preferences, expectations, and any specific requests to personalize their dedication event.
  • On-site Management: Be present at the dedication events to oversee the execution, manage any unforeseen issues, and ensure that the ceremony proceeds smoothly and as planned.
  • Volunteer and Staff Coordination: Recruit and organize volunteers and staff needed for the event. Assign roles based on the event's agenda, such as speakers, event setup and breakdown crews, and guest guides.
  • Interdepartmental Coordination: Work closely with various departments within Habitat for Humanity of Omaha (e.g., construction, marketing) to ensure all aspects of the dedication ceremony are supported, promoted, and documented as needed.
  • Post-Event Follow-up: Conduct post-event evaluations to gather feedback from homeowners, staff, and volunteers to improve future dedication ceremonies

TIME COMMITMENT:
At least one day per week, for at least two hours.

There may be times where there are no active dedications to plan.

 

This is a volunteer position at Habitat for Humanity Omaha
