WHAT IS A CORE VOLUNTEER:
CORE Volunteers are Committed to Ongoing Regular Engagement! Essentially, they are an extension of our staff!

 

VOLUNTEER POSITION OVERVIEW:

The CORE Volunteer for Financial and Project Management at our organization will play a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity and efficiency of our financial operations related to our housing projects. This volunteer will dedicate time each Monday to meticulously tracking invoice payments to contractors, ensuring that all transactions are accurately reflected in both our financial system and project management databases. The role requires a keen eye for detail and a solid understanding of financial processes to effectively reconcile any discrepancies between systems, thereby supporting the transparent and accountable management of project funds.

 

In addition to financial tracking, the volunteer will also be responsible for recording and categorizing the hours staff members spend on various task categories across housing projects. This aspect of the role is crucial for project analysis and budgeting, as it helps provide a clear picture of labor allocation and project progress. The volunteer will work closely with team members to gather and document this information, requiring good communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively. Training on specific software and organizational procedures will be provided, ensuring the volunteer is well-equipped to make a significant contribution to our mission of building affordable housing.

 

 

TASKS

  • Track and Reconcile Invoices: Regularly review and compare invoices from contractors against records in the financial system and project management database, ensuring all payments are accurately documented and reconciled.
  • Document Staff Hours: Collect, categorize, and record the hours staff members spend on various tasks within each housing project, ensuring accurate tracking for budgeting and project analysis purposes.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Attention to Detail: Ability to meticulously review financial documents and project records to ensure accuracy and consistency.
    Financial Literacy: Understanding of basic financial principles, including invoicing, reporting
  • Experience with Financial Software: Familiarity with financial management software (e.g., QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel) and project management tools to navigate and update records accurately.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively liaise with team members, contractors, and project managers, ensuring clear and precise information exchange.
  • Organizational Skills: Capacity to manage and prioritize tasks efficiently, keeping track of multiple invoices and staff hours across different projects simultaneously.
  • Problem-Solving Ability: Skill in identifying discrepancies between financial and project management records and resolving them in a timely manner.
  • Team Collaboration: Experience working collaboratively in a team environment, contributing to team goals and supporting project management initiatives.
  • Adaptability: Ability to quickly adapt to new software, processes, and guidelines specific to the organization’s financial and project management practices.
