Career Mentors - Newcomers to Canada

Project Description:

Career Mentors

Many Newcomers to Canada come from significant professional backgrounds and experiences. Yet due to their lack of experience and academic training in Canada, many are not able to find meaningful employment opportunities in their field. If you are in a specific profession, we would like to connect you with a newcomer who is in the same field. In becoming a mentor, you will have the opportunity to provide practical employment support and build meaningful relationships.

Career Mentors engage in two kinds of activities:

1. One-on-one mentoring

TIME • MADE BY APPOINTMENT AT YOUR CONVENIENCE

Mentoring with a Newcomer Mentee that is interested in pursuing a similar Profession that you are currently in. Usually there are a total of 5 session

2. Employment Cafe

TIME • EVERY LAST WEDNESDAY • 6:00 - 8:00 PM

The Employment Café provides an opportunity to network with other internationally trained newcomers who are seeking jobs or are successful in their career search. We are in need of volunteers to help with hospitality: Set-up, Clean-up and Registration.
