Gwinnett Cares Community Volunteer – COVID Response

Project Description:

Thank you for your interest in serving others in our community during these uncertain times! Because the situation is evolving so rapidly we are constantly assessing the need for volunteers. Although we can’t promise that everyone who signs up will have an immediate opportunity to serve, we do know that many volunteers will be needed in the days ahead!

When called on, volunteers may be asked to help sort through food and/or personal care donations, organize by category and pack boxes to be distributed by cooperative partners. As volunteer needs are communicated by our community partner, interested volunteers who have registered through this posting will be contacted directly.

To learn about other ways you can support those in need in our community visit www.gwinnettcares.org.

If you know of people in need, please refer them to the Gwinnett Coalition Helpline at 770-995-3339 or United Way’s Helpline at 211.

With rising concerns over the spread of COVID-19 nationwide, we are taking steps to ensure the well-being of our staff, volunteers and those we serve. Knockout Hunger Community Volunteers will follow below procedures:

  • The overall capacity of volunteers working at any location will be limited to 10
  • Volunteers experiencing ANY symptoms of illness (cough, congestion, fever, etc.) are to remain home
  • Staff will ask any person exhibiting signs of illness to go home
  • Volunteers who have or are close to someone who has visited a country on the CDC watch list (wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel) must stay home
  • People that are part of an at-risk population (older adults and those with serious chronic medical conditions) or anyone with regular contact with a person who is a higher risk of getting very sick from COVID-19 should remain home

People are encouraged to visit the CDC’s website on COVID-19 for more information on the virus, who is at a higher risk, and how to prevent its spread. Visit cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html.

This opportunity is for people ages 18 and up. All Gwinnett County volunteers are required to agree and complete the the Waiver of Liability and Release before participation in any volunteer project or event.
