Description:
Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources is seeking individuals interested in volunteering at Mordecai Historic Park. The park lies in the heart of downtown Raleigh and is a historical landmark that showcases one of the largest plantations in Wake County and President Andrew Johnson's birthplace.
Duties and Impact: Volunteer docents will be responsible for giving one hour park tours, that include the historic Mordecai house, outbuildings, and landscape. Volunteer docents should appreciate history and be comfortable working with patrons of all ages and backgrounds. Time commitment is flexible during Mordecai Historic Parks operating hours: Tuesday - Saturday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Sunday, 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Work Environment: Volunteers will be working primarily indoors with a portion of the tour taking place outdoors. There will be a restroom on site.
Volunteer Requirements:
Per department policies, this volunteer opportunity is not to be used towards court-appointed community service hours.
