Elevate your summer with the DEER HOLLOW FARM INTERNS Teen Volunteer Summer Program, supporting the Recreation Division's Deer Hollow Farm Wilderness Camp programs! Dive into a dynamic and enjoyable volunteer experience, blending advanced training with a meaningful service opportunity.

 

Deer Hollow Farm Interns will assist staff during Deer Hollow Farm Wilderness Camps with a variety of outdoor and farm activities.This program is not only a great way to fulfill community service requirements, but it also provides teens with the opportunity to develop job skills. Such skills include public speaking, customer service, conflict resolution, leadership, adaptability, time management, team building and more.

 

Please note: The City of Mountain View cannot serve as a Certifying Organization for the The President's Volunteer Service Award.

 

Deer Hollow Farm Interns Program Requirements:

  • Ages 14-17 by June 6, 2024 (no exceptions)
  • Attend mandatory training on Jun. 6 at 2 p.m. to Jun. 7 at 12 p.m. at Deer Hollow Farm (no make up dates)
  • Interest in the outdoors and volunteering with youth
  • Available for at least 3 weeks (M-F) of service between June 10-July 26. 

 

Deer Hollow Farm Interns Program Options:
Staff will try to accommodate your first or second choice of options that you indicate on your application.

  • Dates: June 10-14, June 17-21, June 24-28, July 1-5 (No camp July 4), July 8-12 (must be aged 15+), July 15-19, July 22-26
  • Location: Deer Hollow Farm - Rancho San Antonio Service Rd, Los Altos, CA 94024
  • Volunteer Time: Volunteer shifts are 8:30 a.m. - 3:30/4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.
  • Camper Ages: Campers are aged 6-12, with the exception of the week of July 8-12 where campers are 12-14 (Interns must be aged 15+ this week)
  • Transportation: Transportation to Deer Hollow Farm is provided to all interns from the Mountain View Community Center - 201 S. Rengstorff Avenue.

 

 

Please follow these steps to apply to and join the Deer Hollow Farm Interns Program. If you have any questions, please email DeerHollowFarm@mountainview.gov

  1. Create a City of Mountain View CERVIS profile.

  2. Join the "Teen Volunteer Summer Program: Deer Hollow Farm Interns" opportunity. Be sure to answer all questions, or your application may be rejected.

  3. Attend an in-person interview on Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 2-4 p.m. You will receive an email with interview information once you have completed Steps 1 and 2. The interview is not meant to be intimidating, but rather provide an opportunity to practice interviewing and confirm your availability and commitment to the program.

  4. Attend the mandatory training on Jun. 6 at 2 p.m. to Jun. 7 at 12 p.m. at Deer Hollow Farm. Training is required to participate in the Deer Hollow Farm Interns program. There are no make-up training dates available.

  5. Review your assigned volunteer date(s). You will receive an email on Friday, May 17 with your assigned volunteer date(s). They will also be added to your online profile. No changes to you volunteer dates will be allowed after June 7, 2024.
