Project Description:

Volunteer Position Title: Class/Activity Instructors at Mobile Senior Centers


Purpose: To provide educational and recreational activities for our seniors attending the Mobile Senior Centers in Bartow, Dundee, Frostproof, Polk City, Ft. Meade, Eagle Lake, Mulberry, and Lakeland.  


 Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide Program Manager with overview of class/activity in advance.
  • Provide instruction for activity or educational sessions such as arts & crafts, computer, foreign language, nutrition, exercise (Tai Chi, Yoga, etc.), dance, piano, and/or other subjects.
  • Assist with preparation & clean-up of room for class.


Responsible to: LACS Program Manager


Time Commitment: 1 hours (depending on activity/class) 1-2 times weekly for minimum of 6 weeks.  Several positions available in this area. 


Qualifications: Pleasant and patient teaching skills.  Good communication.  Able to relate to an elderly population and adjust as necessary.  Dependable. Able to provide leadership and maintain calm and safe atmosphere.  Must be able to pass background check.


Age Restrictions: Must be 18 year of age or older.


Working Conditions: Climate controlled recreation/activity setting.


Support: Training for this position will be provided. In addition, the Program Manager (or substitute) will be available for questions and assistance.

Dress Code: Office/business casual – or clothing appropriate for activity (ie. exercise).
