OVERVIEW

The Weinberg Center for Balanced Living at Manny Cantor Center serves a diverse population of 60 adults with everything from nutritious kosher meals, health and wellness programs, case workers, dance, art, language and fitness classes and a wide array of social events. Currently 4,000 members take advantage of this diverse array of mostly free programming. We are looking for volunteers to help support our members!

 

WHAT IS YOUR COMMITMENT?


  • Assist older New Yorkers with new membership registration and membership renewals, including answering questions about the application and helping to write answers for those who are unable to do so themselves.
  • Answer community members' questions about the older adult center, WCBL's classes and other services
  • Manage member sign-ups for special events and activities, such as holiday luncheons and trips
  • Help with preparing and/or executing special events and activities
  • Assist with some back-office duties, including filing, making copies and phone calls
  • Commit to at least one weekly two-hour shift, on Tuesday or Thursday 11:00AM-1:00PM

 

HOW TO GET STARTED:


  • Complete the volunteer application
  • Have a brief phone call with member of volunteer team
  • Have an in-person interview with program staff

  • Friendly and personable, with strong customer service skills, required
  • Strong verbal communications skills required
  • Basic computer skills (typing, Microsoft office) preferred
  • Language skills a plus (fluency in Cantonese and/or Mandarin strongly preferred)
  • Office experience a plus
