GOG Exhibit Hall Docent
Project Description:
Position Summary: Exhibit Hall Docents engage visitors in exploring the various exhibit halls and exhibits inside the Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center through exhibit interpretation, exciting hands-on exhibits and demonstrations. Exhibit Hall Docents will be responsible for greeting visitors, fielding questions and ensuring a high quality experience. Docents may choose the Exhibit Hall in which they wish to volunteer and will be trained in introductory information about each area. Ongoing training will be available throughout the year along with educational resources being available to expand their knowledge base. Annual Spring Training is mandatory for all new volunteers. Successful volunteers tend to be outgoing, approachable, and possess a willingness to both learn and teach. Exhibit halls include the following areas and exhibits:
Schedule: Successful applicants must commit to one, four hour shift a week for at least one summer season. A Summer Season is from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Shifts are 9:00 am – 1:00 pm or 1:00 – 5:00 pm Age Requirement: 18 and older (special consideration possible for younger volunteers). Additional: All volunteers are required to register online as a City of Colorado Springs Volunteer which requires submitting to a background check. Volunteers also enjoy a free one-year membership to Friends of Garden of the Gods (FOGG) and a 25% discount on food and merchandise inside the Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center. Volunteers must also acquire their own volunteer shirt ($15.00) with free shirts available for those in need. |
