Business Office Volunteer - Home Repair Dept.

Description:

Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity partners with existing homeowners to provide home repair services. These services help ensure that homeowners, and their families, have safe, well-maintained homes. This allows for Aging in place and improved safety and security for the homeowners. We are looking for someone that is interested in the administrative side of this program in our business office. 

 

Department: Home Repair Business Office

Reports to Leah Cowles, Home Repair Manager 

Goal: To help manage and grow the Home Repair Program

 

 

What to Expect in this Service Environment:

  • Work alongside business office staff
  • Indoor work in a business office setting
  • Sitting and standing
  • File organization and information management – paper and electronic.
  • Making copies of documents
  • Research online

Time Commitment:

  • Flexible scheduling available anywhere from Monday – Fridays.
  • Business office hours are 9 AM – 3 PM
  • Ongoing service - Long-term commitment
  • Would like to have someone for 3 to 10 hours a week if possible.
  • Volunteers are encouraged to stay for their entire scheduled time to ensure the goals for the day are met.

Dress Code

  • Business casual attire.

Recommended: Layers to adjust to changing temperatures.

 

Please note:

  • Do not wear clothing with images that might be considered offensive or inappropriate. Remember that you will be representing Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity during your volunteer time.

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Microsoft Office to include Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Positive attitude
  • Desire to serve our community
  • Support of and belief in Habitat’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Openness to learning new things.
  • Reliability in your schedule and communication.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside business office staff
  • Answer phone calls, take messages and provide updates as appropriate.
  • Send out home repair applications.
  • Set appointments.
  • Help coordinate home repair committee meetings – sending reminders etc.
  • File organization and information management – paper and electronic.
  • Making copies of documents
  • Research online
  • Assist in marketing outreach as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

All Volunteers Agree to:

  • Complete all required Habitat volunteer applications and waivers.
  • Follow the Habitat Volunteer Code of Conduct in the confirmation email. 
  • Abide by all safety policies and procedures.
  • Authorize Pikes Peak Habitat to run a criminal background/sex offender registry check.
  • Take direction on assigned tasks from leadership.
  • Contribute to a safe, respectful, and inclusive job site culture.
  • Be respectful of time and commitment to scheduled volunteer shifts.
  • Take seriously their ethical responsibilities to safeguard our intended beneficiaries, their communities (especially children), and all those with whom we work. In line with the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse.

Orientation and Training Opportunities:

  • Requires Volunteer Interview - Potential volunteers will be interviewed by the Home Repair Manager.
  • Required Volunteer Orientation - Volunteer orientation to be completed upon your first volunteer shift.
  • Additional on the job training for projects and tasks.
