Service Project Details

Educational Program Docent:

Work with our Naturalist to help lead half-mile guided boardwalk tours through our wetlands where you educate guests on our wetland habitats and animals/plants you may find in these habitats.

Green Cay Nature Center educational programming can be school groups or specialty groups, ages K-12 to seniors!

This is as-needed and volunteer time commitment is dependent on when we have programs scheduled.

Programs start times are scheduled between 9:30AM – 2PM Tuesdays through Saturdays. Must be flexible.

We are not expecting docents to be experts from the start, we WILL train. As long as you are passionate about nature/birds/wetlands/science and are good at memorization or love learning, you are a perfect fit!

Selected volunteers will be trained on wetland habitat and animals and should be comfortable – or learn to be comfortable through training – communicating with people of ALL ages and backgrounds.

Selected volunteers must be okay with giving a half-mile outside tour.

Volunteer commitment required is a minimum of six months.
