Orlando Mission Market Volunteer FRIDAY 8:30am - 12:00pm


Project Description:

Volunteer Position Description: Volunteers help sort, pack, stock and distribute food to those in need.


Counter: (2-3 needed per shift)

  • Assists clients to fulfill their food vouchers
  • Assist with stocking/restocking food
  • Light lifting required


Ambassador: (1-3 needed per shift)

  • Preferably bilingual Spanish/English abilities
  • Works as a greeter/host of the food pantry
  • Ensures all clients check in before selecting food from the Mission Market
  • Assists with answering questions and providing direction as needed
  • Light lifting required


Back (Stocking Volunteer): (2-3 needed per shift)

  • Assists with offloading the food from the truck
  • Moderate/heavy lifting required (approx. 20-40 lbs)
  • Assist with loading food into coolers and freezers
  • Assist counter volunteers as needed
  • Help to keep pantry stocked


  •  A willingness to interact with people from all backgrounds
  • A heart for serving our neighbors in need who may be experiencing crisis
  • A nonjudgmental and service oriented positive attitude
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, and lift intermittently 
  • Ability to work and move around in a small space

Please note that the Market does not have space for volunteers to perform only one roll (i.e., sitting and packing bags). It is often a busy atmosphere and all volunteers must be able to move around the Market during food drop offs, restocking, etc.


Schedule: This sign up is for Friday Shift 8:30am - 12:00pm Shifts are available M, W, TH, F 8:30am - 12:00pm and 12:00pm - 3:00pm and Tuesday 10:00am - 4:00pm. We prefer volunteers stay for the entirety of the shift. Those shifts can be found on our Volunteer website.


Commitment Requirements: You may choose to sign up for shifts individually as your schedule permits. We prefer volunteers choose a weekly shift to commit to (i.e., every Monday morning). Only have an hour? Please feel free to stop by and help!


Age Restrictions: Available to volunteers ages 10 and older. Youth volunteers ages 10-17 are required to have a parent or legal guardian complete our Youth Liability Waiver prior to volunteering. Please note that volunteers under age 16 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or school chaperone in order to volunteer with us.


Dress Code: Closed toe shoes, appropriate clothing ( jeans are fine, but no short-shorts or spaghetti strap tank tops, or baggy clothes please).
