OVERVIEW

As the COVID-19 public health crisis continues, many of us might be feeling isolated and lonely as we live in this social distancing world. Older Adults particularly may experience extreme isolation, as they often don't have access to technology to make it easy to connect with people. That's where you come in! We are looking for volunteers that we can match-up with an Older Adult community member that is interested in having a call buddy. It will be a great chance for you to connect and build community with each other, which must continue even as we may not be able to share space together.

 

WHAT IS YOUR COMMITMENT?

• Call your buddy a minimum of once/week (for at least 4 weeks)
• Decide on a time for your calls mutually, and your first call should be made between 10am-5pm
• Calls can last anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 minutes, depending on how you are both feeling
• Complete the brief feedback form after each call

 

HOW TO GET STARTED:

• Complete our Volunteer Application 
• Screening call with a member of the volunteer team, which will include going over guidelines and expectations
• We will do our best to match you with a call partner, as the need arises

• You enjoy chatting and getting to know people
• All ages (under 12 should make the calls with an adult partner), languages (especially Cantonese, Mandarin and Spanish speakers) are encouraged to sign-up
