Position Summary:

The role of the SNAP Ambassador is to serve as a volunteer for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program by providing clerical and administrative work. If you want to help your neighbors access valuable nutrition assistance and get food on their tables, this volunteer position is for you!

SNAP Ambassadors are responsible for conducting phone interviews, collect sensitive information, and submit SNAP applications to the State.

Duties and Responsibilities:

-Conduct application assistance and outreach via phone, e-mail, or in person.

-Educate potentially eligible individuals about SNAP benefits and other food resources.

-Enter SNAP applications into the online PEAK Pro State system

-Stay informed about SNAP changes and updates.

Qualifications:

-Must successfully pass a comprehensive background check

-Intermediate computer knowledge and willingness to learn.

-Must be able to volunteer in-person at our Colorado Springs or Pueblo Distribution Center.

-Experience working with people from diverse social and economic backgrounds.

-Must have a heart for helping and display compassion to neighbors.

-Excellent communication and customer service skills.

-Understanding of government assistance programs (preferred)

-Bilingual (preferred but not a requirement)

Location:

This volunteer position is in person at Care and Share Food Bank in Colorado Springs and Pueblo.

Time Commitment:

A minimum commitment of 4 hours per week for at least 3 months.

Training Provided:

Training will be in person with a SNAP employee
All equipment is provided

Other Information:

A desk, phone, and computer will be provided.
This role reports directly to the SNAP Coordinators
