Opportunity Name:
SNAP Volunteers

Description:

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) – formerly known as “food stamps” – provides food assistance to more households than any other program.  At Arkansas Foodbank, we help our neighbors overcome the bureaucratic hurdles in the application process, such as getting their paperwork together and contacting a caseworker.

Volunteers offer SNAP Application Assistance and outreach on a regular basis to those that are SNAP eligible. Volunteer tasks include the following:

  • Chatting with interested neighbors over the phone or in-person to help them understand the programs, process, and benefits
  • assisting with scanning and faxing documents for clients
  • following up with clients as they continue through the application process
  • entering results data into a database.
