Laundry and Room Set Up

When a family moves out of shelter, we need a volunteer to help us strip the beds, launder items, and make the beds/set up the bathroom for the next family that moves in.

 

Turnover is unpredictable, so we cannot assign an exact date to this opportunity. Volunteers who sign up for this assignment must be flexible to respond on short notice.

 

Items to be picked up at the Day Center and laundered at the volunteer’s home include:

• 1 full size bed sheet set (flat and fitted)
• 1 full size mattress cover
• 1 full size comforter
• 1 or 2 twin bed sheet sets (flat and fitted)
• 1 or 2 twin bed mattress covers
• 1 or 2 twin comforters
• 1 bathmat
• 1 shower curtain

Because the next family may be ready to move in right away, we are asking for a fast turnaround: Volunteers should pick up the items from the Day Center, launder them, and return to the Day Center within a few days. When they return to the Day Center, volunteers will also make the beds and set up the bathroom for the new family.

 

We are taking unlimited sign-ups and will reach out the everyone who has signed up when we have a family move out, with the hope that at least one of you will be able to fulfill the role at that exact time.
