Opportunity Name:
Refugee Services Airport Welcome Team 2024

Description:

Population Served: Newly Arrived Refugee Families

Position Description:

As one of only three refugee resettlement agencies in the state of Oregon, Catholic Charities provides resettlement and case management services to individuals and families who seek to make Oregon their new home. Our resettlement work dates back to the 1940s, when we began assisting individuals and families who had to leave their homelands due to the fear of persecution. Since the 1980s we have resettled more than 10,500 individuals.

The process that refugees go through between displacement and settling in a new home can be long and difficult. On average, refugees wait 6-10 years for resettlement, and when they arrive at the airport it can be a scary and confusing experience. As a member of the Airport Welcome Team, you will join Catholic Charities of Oregon at Portland International Airport to welcome new refugee families to America. Our volunteers help us greet refugee families with signs and smiling faces to make them feel welcome.
