Accounting Aid Society Volunteer Agreement

 

Accounting Aid Society values you and the incredible impact you make for families in Michigan. We promise to consistently strive to make your volunteer experience with us enjoyable and rewarding. This Volunteer Agreement describes the arrangement between Accounting Aid Society and you.

 

The Organization

Accounting Aid Society exists to create a growing economy that works for all community members in southeast Michigan. The organization assists clients with tax returns, personal finances and small business financial services.  Accounting Aid’s work addresses a critical need for those in Detroit and southeast Michigan, providing access to knowledgeable and experienced tax preparers and financial coaches at no cost.

Your role as a volunteer is to help us and the families we serve by carrying out the volunteer activities described in the volunteer position descriptions.

 

Introduction and Training

• We will provide introduction to the work of Accounting Aid Society, your volunteering role, and the training you need to meet the responsibilities of this role.
• We will provide the training and certifications required by the Internal Revenue Service and the VITA Program.

Support

• We will support and encourage all of our volunteers to achieve and maintain the goals and mission of Accounting Aid Society.
• We will provide an open door to discuss volunteering, successes, challenges, and ideas.
• We will do our best to create an environment that is conducive to helping you develop your goals and volunteer path with Accounting Aid Society.
• We reserve the right not to work with some volunteers who are currently on trial or who were convicted of relevant crimes, and other major legal charges; pending a State of Michigan background check.

The Volunteer

We expect you to:

• Help Accounting Aid Society carry out its mission.
• Perform your volunteering role to the best of your ability.
• Follow the organization’s policies, procedures and standards.
• Commit to serving at least 30 hours between January – April.
• Meet time commitments and to give at least 48 hours’ notice if you’re not able to attend so other arrangements can be made. Client appointments are made based on volunteer participation. Site volunteer experiences, as well as client experiences may be negatively impacted if you are inconsistent in your participation. We understand that emergencies may arise, but we ask that you make every effort possible to notify the Volunteer Specialist in a timely manner.
• Dress in a neat, professional, and appropriate manner for the duties required.
• Always maintain the confidentiality of the clients.
• Report any misconduct or concerns to the Volunteer Specialist immediately.
