Many people volunteer on a regular basis, devoting a morning or afternoon once a week or once a month. In addition, some volunteers work once or twice on a short term basis. Groups are also welcome and being punctual, dependable, enthusiastic, flexible and having a positive attitude is a must. Each shift offers limited availability, so needs to be scheduled in advance. The most common work is:
- Pack food boxes or sort food (Great for both groups and individuals.)
- Work in our gardens. Support us with starting seedlings, transplanting, harvesting worm castings, making compost, seed saving and packing seeds and other garden maintenance work!)
- Glean & Harvest food (picking citrus food during January, February and March, Stone fruit in the Summer)
- Youth & Family Volunteer Days (for families with children under 14)
- There are also many special events that benefit FoodLink for which we need volunteers. Some examples include Volunteer Appreciation Lunch (April), the annual Mail Carriers Food Drive (May) Food Day (October)
